San Fernando West Valley Branch
Mission Statement
The mission of the Music Teachers' Association of California is to promote excellence in the music teaching profession. We do this through high membership standards, strong ethical values, and continuing professional education.
A history of Excellence
Since receiving our charter in 1960, the San Fernando West Valley Branch (SFWV) has shown a steady growth in membership and programs. The monthly meetings provide opportunities for discussion and exchanges of ideas pertaining to the private music teacher. Guest speakers and artists offer further stimulation and encourage a broadening of creative capacities.
The SFWV Branch serves teachers from North Hollywood to Thousand Oaks and Simi Valley. Our membership includes teachers with private studios, educators at public and private schools, and college professors offering instruction in the disciplines of piano, organ, violin, viola, cello, flute, oboe, clarinet, recorder, baritone horn, euphonium, saxophone, voice, guitar, harp, conducting, composition, and music production and engineering.
Students have many opportunities to perform and compete. Branch programs include the CA State Certificate of Merit Program, Showcase Recitals, Southern California Junior Bach Festival (Piano, Strings, Winds, Voice), Contemporary Festival, VOCE, Concerto Competition, Masterclasses, Memorial Awards Competition and Memorial Winners Concert.
